I’m not throwing it back very far this week (I’m too tired to throw anything anywhere, really!)… this is the sort of the set list from the Pop Evil concert my husband and I went to on our first official date, which the band members were kind enough to sign for me (they were all incredibly nice). And also half of a drumstick from the show. I won the concert tickets from a local radio station a day or two after I met my husband, and Pop Evil is one of my favorite bands, so it worked out quite well.
The concert we went to was on March 30, 2012 at Ground Zero in Traverse City, Michigan. This set list, you may have noticed, is dated March 24, 2012 and says “The Machine Shop – Flint, MI,” which is why I said it’s “sort of” the set list from the show we went to. After the show in Traverse City, I asked if I would be able to get the set list. Well, it turns out that they were using the set list from the earlier show, but I could have it if I wanted it. Obviously I said yes.
The Machine Shop is actually my favorite place to see a concert, but I didn’t make it to the show on the set list. (Actually, I haven’t been to The Machine Shop since I saw Shinedown there back in 2004, shortly before I got pregnant with my third child). And it’s actually very fortunate that I didn’t go to that concert. You see, on March 24, 2012, the night of the concert that I didn’t go to, a couple of my friends convinced me to get out of the house for a couple of hours and hang out with them at a little bar called Sally’s (which sadly closed a few months later). It was while hanging out with them that night that I met my husband for the first time (although it was after midnight, so we technically didn’t meet until March 25, 2012). So in hindsight, I’m not sad about missing that particular show. 🙂
