This hammock works great to contain my son’s stuffed toys. Stuffed animals take up a lot of space in the toy box, so it’s really helpful to have an alternative storage solution for all of his squishy friends. I really appreciate that this toy hammock comes with three hooks and three wall anchors, so it’s ready to hang up as soon as it arrives. Installation is really fast and easy – mark the three drill spots, drill the holes, tap in the anchors, screw in the hooks, and attach the hammock. The edges of the hammock are super stretchy elastic, which is a feature I haven’t seen in a toy hammock before. (The other one we have has canvas edges with no stretch to them). The elastic edging is actually really convenient, as it makes the hammock more versatile in terms of how much stuff you can put in it. As you add toys, the elastic stretches to accommodate the influx.
The package insert includes installation instructions on the back for how to position it to prevent it from sagging and from toys falling out of it. The instructions recommend that the side hooks be installed 3.8 feet from the corner (minimum listed in the product description is 31 inches). As it turns out, my son’s bedroom doesn’t have a single corner that has 3.8 feet of space available on both sides due to doors/windows/closet. Therefore the picture I’m adding to my review is what the hammock looks like if you only go out just over a couple of feet from the corner. It’s still perfectly functional, just not as secure at holding toys as it would be if I were able to install it per the instructions. I could still add plenty more stuffed animals to it as-is, though. We’re in the process of setting up a downstairs playroom, though, and we’ll be moving the toy hammock to that room – and installing it per instructions – once it’s ready.
