Juppy Giveaway

My youngest son, Taylor, is just over 10 months old. He learned how to pull himself up to standing on New Year’s Day and has been practicing standing every day since. He’ll walk around the inside of his crib and play yard, and cruise around the living room hanging on to anything that’s halfway-steady (the couch, daddy’s chair, the Exersaucer, mommy’s legs…) but isn’t quite ready to give up the security of something to hang on to yet.

V20140204_142425This is where the Juppy Baby Walker comes in. I was given the opportunity to try out the Juppy Baby Walker “Momentum” (and to give one away to one of my readers!), and was thrilled to do so. This isn’t the type of baby walker you’re probably thinking of, though – rather than a plastic frame with wheels, this is a fabric, parent-controlled baby walker. Your little one won’t be at risk of tumbling down the stairs or reaching for dangerous objects because you provide the support for your pre-walker.

The Juppy “Momentum” baby walker is designed so that you don’t have to bend over to help your baby learn to walk. For parents with aching backs like mine, this is great – walking hunched over holding Taylor’s hands is something I can’t do for very long at a time. The Juppy has adjustable straps so it can be used by parents of any height (my husband is 6’8 and doesn’t have to bend over to use the Juppy either). There’s a zipper up the back with additional Velcro closures for added safety.

The Juppy fits babies up to 35 pound and is machine washable 100% cotton. It also comes with a storage bag – the Juppy folds up small enough that you can put it in the bag and stash it in your purse or diaper bag.

Taylor’s favorite thing to do in his Juppy (so far) is lift his legs up and dangle, and then try to start swinging. The Juppy is NOT intended for swinging your baby (it clearly says so on the instructional sheet, right after the word WARNING in bright red capital letters), but since he’s a baby and doesn’t know how to read yet, he really can’t be blamed for trying. (This is the same kid who likes to try to fling himself backwards off my lap so that he can flip upside down – little bit of a thrill-seeker, this one is).

The more we practice, though, the more confident he gets about walking around on his own two feet without hanging on to furniture or mommy’s legs. The straps are available for him to hang on to if he wants that feeling of extra security, but he’s learning that he can safely let go and reach for things as we walk around the house. Overall we really like this product and are already getting a lot of use out of it.

You can purchase The Juppy baby walker in your choice of blue, pink, or yellow accents from their website for just $29.99 right now (regular price is $59.95). You can also personalize your Juppy with your baby’s name for just $6.95 extra. The Juppy Baby Walker is also available on Amazon.
