Christmas is a very pretty time of year, and one of the prettiest bits of décor are all the sparkling, twinkling Christmas lights. Our family, like many, has traditions that in part relate to looking at pretty lights – decorating the tree; decorating the house; driving around our town and looking at all the stunning holiday displays our friends and neighbors have created, and so forth.
Holiday Specs are 3D Christmas glasses that add another level to the beauty of holiday lights. They have holographic lenses that bend the light to create magical illusions and images, anywhere there’s a bright point of light! When you put the glasses on and look at a bright point of light – like Christmas tree lights – an image appears on top of each light.
I can’t even tell you how neat this effect is, and unfortunately the effects don’t translate well via photos – in real life, the images that are superimposed over the lights are bright and crystal clear (and incredibly pretty!) My favorite is probably either the snowflake or the star images, and of course those didn’t translate into pictures at all.
I was able to get some images from the company’s pictures, though – I pulled this image from the videos on 3D Glasses Online’s YouTube channel, and it comes a little closer to showing the awesome effect these glasses have on lights. This one is a street scene – you can even turn street lamps and headlights into magical images!
On steady lighting, the images just kind of hang out on top of the lights, but if you have blinking lights the effect is even more amazing. The images appear and disappear as the lights go off and on, and it’s just a really spectacular visual experience.
Holiday specs are available in two different forms. The Holiday Magic 3D viewers are like opera glasses for Christmas. They’re made of plastic and come in five designs: Snowman, Christmas Star, Reindeer, Santa, and Snowflake. You can get all five designs in a pack for $20, or pick your favorite image and order them individually for $4 each.
You can also get your Christmas magic on with the Holiday Specs Christmas 3D glasses, which are very similar to the 3D glasses you use to watch movies. But instead of turning a movie into 3D, you get magical pictures on your Christmas tree (or around your windows, or on your neighbors’ houses, or anywhere else there are little sparkling lights). There are ten different images available for the Holiday Specs Christmas 3D glasses: Snowflake, Candy Cane, Ornament, Elf, Christmas Star, Fluttering Angel, Santa, Snowman, Reindeer, and Gingerbread Man. You can grab these starting at $1.50 each (minimum order of 25; the per-price drops the more you buy) in either a mixed bundle of all ten designs or as a single design of your choice.
American Paper Optics Products can also be found on Amazon.
We celebrate Christmas as my mother-in-law’s house with my husband’s family, and I’m going to be adding a set of Holiday Specs to each person’s stocking. They’d also be great for things like party favors, to tuck inside your holiday cards before you mail them out, corporate gift-giving, Secret Santa gifts, gift baskets, or even as package decorations. I’d love to tuck a pair of these into kids’ gift bags – they’d make a super fun addition to the other little items like holiday-themed pencils, erasers, and stickers that are typically found in those little packages.
There are also fun products available for other occasions – in addition to regular 3D glasses, the3D Market has fireworks glasses, eclipse glasses, Wild Eyes animal 3D glasses, Happy Eyes glasses, Eye Witness 3D glasses, and more! You can learn more about Holiday Specs on their Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages.
