I’ve never used blotting papers before this review – my technique prior to receiving these was to either (1) use a regular tissue to “wipe away the shine,” or (2) add another layer of powder to the shiny spots. Well, the tissue method works okay if I’m not wearing makeup, but obviously removes makeup along with shine if I’m wearing it that day. (And also leaves little bits of tissue on my face). And adding another layer of powder not only clogs my pores AND makes me go through an expensive product faster, but I usually end up with a “cakey” look from too much powder. Day by Day Beauty’s Facial Blotting Papers are the perfect solution!

These blotting papers are made of 100% natural pulp fiber to quickly absorb unwanted oil without taking your makeup with it. A package of papers has 100 sheets, and they actually send two packages per order, so you get a total of 200 blotting papers. And using them couldn’t be easier – just blot a paper against the oily spot(s) and that’s it!

I work from home, so I’ll confess that I don’t wear makeup very often, but even without wearing makeup these papers are incredibly handy. I tend to get oily skin around my nose and chin (which of course leads to breakouts) – the first time I pulled one of these papers out of the pack to try it, I wasn’t wearing any makeup and had washed my face probably 3-4 hours prior. The amount of oil that transferred from my nose to the blotting sheet – well, it was both gross and fascinating. It kind of looked like a Rorschach test made of oil. Blech. And later when I tried them again while wearing makeup, the sheets sucked the “shine” off my face but left my makeup intact. And using these BEFORE facial powder makes the powder apply much more smoothly, with no little clumps or “cakey” sections where the powder absorbs the oil.

Day-by-Day

I like that this comes with two individual packs of 100 sheets each – I keep one pack in my purse and the other in my makeup bag. Another nice touch? When you lift the flap to get a blotting paper out, you’re greeted with the words “Hello, beautiful” hidden under the flap. A simple little thing, and probably silly of me but it made me smile to see those words there when I opened the packet. 🙂

  1. I’ve never used blotting paper before either, but have thought about it. I may have to try this. Thanks!
